La Liga Giants Barcelona have reportedly told Atletico Madrid that they will be triggering Antoine Griezmann’s release clause this summer amid speculations that he would move to Camp Nou.

Antonie Griezmann was identified as Manchester United and Barcelona’s number one transfer target back in summer. But despite the club’s effort to bring the player to Old Trafford or Camp Nou, the striker stayed in Madrid after Los Rojiblancos were handed a transfer ban by FIFA.

Diego Simeone recently said that the France International will be allowed to leave the club if the deal for the player benefits both the parties involved in it. Barcelona seems confident of bringing the player to Nou Camp, who will be available for £100m next summer, thanks to his release clause.

According to Helena Condis, Atletico is fully aware that the Frenchmen will leave Wanda Metropolitano this summer, with Barca informing them of their plans to pay the €100m release clause in his contract.

The Frenchmen has recently revealed that he was hoping to have his future sorted out before the start of the World Cup in Russia. And the parties planning to get involved in the negotiations process will have to wrap up things by then.

Helena Condis also understands that the club will hand the attacker the number 7 jersey at the club, while the current members of the Barca squad are said to be awaiting his arrival. However, Blaugrana boss Ernesto Valverde has called for the club to practice caution when they refer to Atletico Madrid hitman Antonie Griezmann as he wants to remain respectful to Atletico.

“Griezmann is a great player, there is no doubt about that, but we have to be careful and respectful when we’re talking about players that don’t play for us. In this case, we have to respect Atletico. We all know how good [Griezmann] is as a player. In the future, we will see [about anything else].” Valverde said.

With so many rumors surrounding the player at the Camp Nou, it looks like the deal is on. I feel the player will be doing a right thing by committing his future with Barcelona. Griezmann will give Valverde a variety of options to utilize him correctly. Let’s see what future holds for the winger.
