Barcelona Transfer News: 5-man shortlist to replace Luis Suarez revealed following the long-term injury to the Uruguayan.

Per Evening Standard, Barcelona have chalked up a 5-man shortlist to replace the injured Luis Suarez. With the La Liga in the balance and a difficult Champions League campaign ahead, the club want to bolster their side with an experienced signing like Arsenal’s Aubameyang.

However, his age is a concern to the side, who are looking for a long-term replacement to their own ageing striker. There is also the difficulty in bringing the forward mid-season as Arsenal have their own campaign to worry about.

Long Term replacements

Other big names in the list include Lautaro Martinez and Timo Werner, both of whom are considered long term replacements. However, the club would find it hard to bring forth the kind of cash their respective clubs would demand to release them.

Just like Aubameyang before him, Barcelona are also aware that it would be hard to convince either of the clubs to part with their star players in January.

Stop Gap signings

Osasuna’s Ezequiel Avila is also being considered. However, there are severe concerns over his ability to adapt to the club’s style of play. The last option, Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno, is the one that is being seen by the club as the most realistic chance they have at bringing in a striker this season.

Moreno would cost the club. €60 million. However, the report adds that Valencia are open to negotiations. However, even if the club go through with the deal, the purchase will merely be a stop gap. The striker turns 29 in March and Barcelona prefer Martinez as their ideal Suarez replacement.
