Barcelona transfers: 4 players Barcelona should offload this summer

Barcelona transfers: Four players Barcelona should sell to make things right for the next season amid the summer transfer window.

Barcelona’s season in the initial days was phenomenal as they were looking in a good shape, and for long many thought that the team will win another treble this term.

However, things went downhill just after the Catalan giants won the league title. A dramatic exit from the Champions league semifinal and last night’s Copa Del Rey final defeat against Valencia should make Barcelona do some introspection.

Many Blaugrana fans are furious online after the last night and want Ernesto Valverde to exit after lacking tactical efficiency in recent few matches.

However, with Barcelona’s wage bills sky-rocketing and unbalance in the squad, the Catalan giants have to de-board few players from their ship, in order to reduce liabilities in the squad.

Furthermore, Barcelona’s administration should also balance their accounts, if they want to maintain financial fluidity.

Now, we will discuss four players, which Sportsrush feel that Barcelona should drop from the squad this summer.

Four players Barcelona should drop

Luis Suarez

Even though the Uruguayan International has been a crucial part of Barcelona’s success ever since he arrived, but it would be the right time to accept for Barcelona and Suarez that the 32-year-old striker is nowhere near to his peak and have lost the firepower he had before.

He has been more erroneous this season and have been liability at front, costing several chances of Barcelona. Moreover, with age catching him up, the Catalan club should look for younger prospects.

Ivan Rakitic

Barcelona transfers

Barcelona’s mifield is already is over-packed with various midfielders in the squad. Moreover, Riqui Puig’s promotion and arrival of Frankie De Jong will bring Rakitic lower in the pecking order. Thus, limiting his game time.

Additionally, Barcelona’s wage bills are over the cap because of the over-employed midfield. Thus, Barcelona can offload the Croatian International at decent price as the club already have suitable replacements for him already.

Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona transfers

Philippe Coutinho has been heavily disappointing for the Catalan club this season, and considering he is the record signing of Barcelona, it adds more responsibility to him. However, he has failed to make any mark despite innumerable chances he got throughout the season.

Moreover, considering the transfer amount Coutinho holds, Barcelona should try selling him at a decent price because the player will further suffer in the team as he has failed to adopt the playing style despite all the time in club.

Jasper Cillessen

Barcelona transfers

Jasper Cillissen has been phenomenal with the limited chances he received at Barcelona, but he failed to replace Marc-Andre Ter Stegen as the latter has been at the top form this season.

Thus, it is unfair to keep the Dutch goalkeeper as a deputy for most of the season, considering he still have best years remaining with him.

Therefore, Barcelona should consider selling him at a decent price amidst all the offers for the 30-year-old goalkeeper and should give a chance someone from the academy.

Hence, these are the players Barcelona should consider selling this summer. Additionally, with possible expensive signings in the book, the Catalan club should balance their account to maintain regulations.
