Barcelona wants Bundesliga star to replace Neymar

After Neymar’s record breaking transfer to PSG, Barcelona are tasked with finding a replacement for the departed Brazilian.

Neymar was a crucial part of Barcelona’s fearsome front three. While Suarez dipped from his extraordinary levels last season, it was Neymar who took up the baton and sometimes even usurped Messi as the side’s most potent weapon.

The remarkable come from behind victory against PSG in the round of 16 was case in point. When all hope seemed lost, it was Neymar who inspired Barcelona to a famous victory.

His brilliant free kick lit the spark which was then followed by his ice cool penalty. And then it was his chipped pass that was turned in by Sergio Roberto, as the Catalan club completed one of the greatest comebacks in Champions league history.

But now that he has gone, Barcelona need to somehow replace his goals, assists and magical ability with someone as good as him. While that might be impossible to find in the current market, they might be do well to put faith in a prodigious talent.

Ousmane Dembele was one of the break out stars of last year’s campaign. The French youngster was sensational for Borussia Dortmund last season, as his eye-catching performances gave him an opportunity in the French national side.

Now it is being reported that Dembele is looking to move on from Dortmund, with the prospect of playing at Barcelona something he is very keen on. While the 20-year old may not be able to replace Neymar right now, Dembele could develop into something quite special in the years to come.

This is what he had to say on the rumours,

“(Barcelona) is a great club and all players would like to play at a club like that.

“It is a pleasure to be able to see your name on the list of players who Barcelona want.

“We’ll be calm and see what happens.”

It will take a bid of around 80 million euros to prize Dembele from Dortmund. But then again, money should not be a concern for Barcelona right now should it?
