Ben Stokes lbw Nathan Lyon: Twitter has criticized the Australian captain for misusing his reviews in a crucial situation at Headingley.

During the fourth day of the third Test of the ongoing 2019 Ashes series between England and Australia at Headingley, Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon found England all-rounder Ben Stokes plumb in front of the stumps in the penultimate over of the match.
It all happened on the last delivery of the 125th over when Stokes didn’t connect a sweep off Lyon. With the ball hitting Stokes’ pad right in front of the stumps, the Australian players appealed in unison but umpire Joel Wilson ruled the decision in the favour of the home team.
In what was a desperate attempt to dismiss Jack Leach in the 124th over, Australia captain Tim Paine ended up opting for a review. With Australia losing the review, it meant that they couldn’t opt for one when Wilson ruled Stokes as not-out.
England needed a couple of runs to win the match at that time. Had the decision been made in Australia’s favour, they would have retained the Ashes. The same happening a delivery after Lyon missed an easy run-out at the non-striker’s end was a further blow for the visitors.
Eventually winnings the match for England, Stokes was doubtlessly declared the Man of the Match. The southpaw ended up scoring 135* (219) with the help of 11 fours and eight sixes.
Ben Stokes lbw Nathan Lyon:
DRS is a great weapon to have, but can boomerang lethally if used insensibly. Australia will be filled with remorse at lbw review wasted over Leach which cost them lbw review against Stokes that would have been upheld

Caught on the boundary but Boult’s foot went over, six overthrows off the bat, should’ve been lbw – review lost, should’ve been run out, Lyon drops the ball. Video footage, yet not guilty of affray. Ben Stokes is a once in a generation player, but who aligns his stars for him!

Stokes brilliant..Australia had their chances..a catch, a run out, a lbw stinker but no more reviews. Ashes alive after an amazing 76 run pship, of which Stokes scored 74.

If we focus on that non LBW we’re deluding ourselves. Better to look honestly at the bowling changes, the field placements, the dropped catch, the dropped run out, using the last review on a ball trailing down leg, & the single off the 5th ball of every over. And Stokes is superb

You cannot make this shit up. botched run out, dead lbw shout with no review… All the while Ben Stokes plays an otherworldly innings as England re-write the record books. Instant cricketing folklore. The series continues, 1-1-1 with two to play #Ashes

Shocking captaincy. Appealing that lbw that would have missed a second set of stumps was stupid. Stokes has played one of the greatest innings ever to win it for the Poms.

No words can do justice to that game and that innings by Stokes. Unbelievable!Aust had there chances and that LBW decision of Lyon will mean a sleepless night for all Aussies.

I can’t believe what I’ve just watched. What a performance from Ben Stokes.
The comparisons with the World Cup final are there as well.
– The dropped catch.
– The stupid wasted review.
– The lbw that was out.
– The fumbled certain run out. It’s on!

Three mistakes by Australia they will be ruing:
Marcus Harris’s dropped catch, Nathan Lyon’s missed run out, Tim Paine burning last review in desperation which meant they had none left for Ben Stokes lbw to Lyon the next over. #TheAshes— Andrew Wu (@wutube) August 25, 2019
That run out fumble by Nathan Lyon. The LBW review that they used up on Cummins that should have been used on Lyon. This is a lazy way to lose. But Ben Stokes deserves this game. He’s been phenomenal and what a relief to see some actual test batting. #ashes #Ashes19 #ashes2019

Harris puts Stokes down at third man! He responds with two boundaries, including the most majestic back foot straight drive. Leach keeps Cummins out twice, surviving an LBW shout. England require eight to win. Stokes is on strike, facing Lyon. There has never been an #Ashes tie. pic.twitter.com/lkqRFHjF9T

Gift run-out to win by 1 run… Plumb LBW to win by 1 run… but in a sliding doors moment… arise Sir Ben Stokes! #Headingley
