The key to using the best Clash Royale Boat Defence for your Clan is easier than you think. Here’s how you can be a genius in boat battles.
Boat Defence is one of the many new features in Clash Royale’s Clan Wars 2.0 update. However given how little info Supercell has actually given out about these matches, knowing what to do correctly can get confusing.
Lack of technical coverage for the best Clash Royale Boat Defence formations.
When you first lay your eyes on a boat battle, it can come across as pure chaos. This is only amplified by the fact that neither Stats Royale, Royale Api or DeckShop Pro have covered the mechanics of the mode in detail yet. This probably has to do with the fact that the Boat Battle mechanics are not permanently decided by Supercell thus far. So, the creators have been asked to restrain themselves for a while.
However, don’t worry, no matter how chaotic it seems, there is a method to the madness.
Method to the Madness.
First, no defensive tower will spawn a troop unless it takes damage. However, you’re probably aware of this by now. So, onto the next one. There is a specific order in which your defensive troops will spawn in a game. When you’re making your deck, the card in your leftmost slot will spawn first, then the 2nd, 3rd and 4th slotted cards will follow.
Also, your boat defence towers DO NOT have unlimited elixir. Their elixir fills up at about 4 to 4.5 times the normal rate. A destroyed tower does not stop spawning cards either. It just spawns them at a slower speed, about 1/3rd of the original to be precise. Moreover, a tower spawns a troop only and only when its elixir storage fills up completely.
As far as spawn rules go, different cards have different spots. So, it’s impossible to predict all of their positions. However, ranged units like a Musky or a dart goblin spawn at the back whereas tanks and buildings spawn in front of a tower. Counter push or Bridge spam troops like Ram and Hog Riders spawn on the opposite line to the one an attacker is attacking in.

Okay, so now that we’re done with the rules, what cards to use?
It’s really pointless to list specific combinations down for you because the cards are level dependent. So, our suggestions are useless if you do not have a card levelled up. Also, instead of just one or two, there plenty of good combinations that work. So, we will keep this generic so that everyone can use them.
Since the elixir refill is really fast in these games, you should keep your defence heavy. Also, put buildings in your central tower because they will always spawn in front of the tower they’re slotted in. Rec. (recommended) buildings are: Tesla, Inferno Tower, Bomb Tower.
Put at least one ranged unit and a heavy tank in all your towers. Rec. Tanks: Pekka, Mega Knight, Giant Skeleton. Do not use Golem, Lava Hound or Giant. They can be killed by an attacker easily and help them build a huge counter push. Remember, unless they attack your tower, your troops won’t spawn. So, you WANT THEM to attack you. Golems and Giants won’t help you do that.
3 Musketeers, Arrows and Magic Archers or Wizards are a must among ranged units. There is a lot of clone going around among boat attackers. So, these help clear the swarms as well as tanks. Sparky, Royal Recruits, Bowler, Prince, Hunter and E-wiz are other excellent defensive Options.
For offence, stick to quick, fast, bridge spam troops. Hog Rider and Ram Rider are excellent choices. Royale Ghost, Prince and Bandit are okay too. Remember, the way a boat defence works will lead them to be spawned in the empty opposite lane! So, fast troops can exploit this and take out an attacker’s pesky King Tower.
As you can see folks, there is no hard and fast deck for boat defences as of yet. The decks that claim to be good are simply experimental. Stick to these rules, play around within them and have fun! These are some of the best Clash Royale Boat Defence tips to use. We have tried these combinations over the last 15 days in different situations with great success.
Good luck and Clash on!
