BCCI have announced new player contracts for all Indian players, introducing a new A+ bracket, featuring players that will be paid the highest.

‘Only 5 players feature in the top bracket, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah being promoted to the top category.

Other players in the A+ category are Indian captain Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma and they will earning Rs 7 crore each.

Players who play all formats(i.e make it to the playing XI)  have been considered for the topmost category.

The ‘A category’ comprises of players who only feature in the Test format for India, along with Dhoni and Rahane and will be earning Rs 5 Crore each

MS Dhoni has been demoted to the 2nd grade contract after a lengthy spell in the topmost category of Indian cricketers.

‘Category B’ includes almost all of the other Indian limited overs specialists that constantly make it to the playing XI.

Hardik Pandya,  though will consider himself a little unlucky to miss out on at least a ‘Category A’  contract, after having featured in all three formats for India in the last 6 months.

‘Category C’ consists of players who are on the verge of making it to the playing XI of India across formats.

Pay Grade

A+ [INR 7 crore]: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar KumarA [INR 5 crore]: MS Dhoni, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane,

B [INR 3 crore]: Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma, Dinesh Karthik

C [INR 1 crore]: Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Karun Nair, Parthiv Patel, Jayant Yadav

Mohammad Shami who is dealing with some personal issues at the moment has not been given a contract.

Other notable omissions are Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj.
