India will be playing a historic one-off test against Afghanistan from the 14th of July in Bangalore.

It will be Afghanistan’s first test in their cricketing history and the nation would be right behind the boys as they take on the mighty Indians.

However, BCCI have opted to rest quite a lot of Indian stars in order to help them recuperate after the gruelling IPL season.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have been left out as BCCI want their key stars fresh for the upcoming England tour.

Ajinkya Rahane has been made captain in Kohli’s absence and will be hoping to take India over the line.

Rahane will have fond memories of captaining in Tests as he led India to a brilliant win against the Aussies when Virat Kohli was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

Karun Nair returns to the Test squad and should slot into that number 4 role.

Virat Kohli will be playing county cricket for Surrey in the meantime in a bid to get acclimatised to the conditions in England, as he had had a poor English tour last time round.

The Indian test team will be hoping for a comprehensive win against the new comers so as to give them confidence going into the five match test series in England.

Who do you think will star for India against Afghanistan?
