Callum Hudson-Odoi is yet to make his first Premier League start, and Maurizio Sarri has made a statement over whether the wait could finally end for the youngster.
Maurizio Sarri has been under criticism for quite some time for the lack of opportunities for Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The youngster has been promising in the limited opportunities at the club, and also received his first England call-up in the recently concluded international break.
Gareth Southgate also handed Hudson-Odoi an international start in the Euro qualifier against Montenegro.
In the game against Cardiff City, Sarri didn’t introduce Hudson-Odoi throughout the game, even when Chelsea went a goal down in the game. However, the Italian manager has hinted that the player could start against Brighton.
Callum Hudson-Odoi to start against West Ham?
Yes, if we believe what Maurizio Sarri has hinted at.
The Chelsea boss proclaimed that the player is ready for Premier League action, and could make his first ever league start for Chelsea when the side takes on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Stamford Bridge.
“I know very well Callum, and I want him to improve more because the potential is higher,” Maurizio Sarri told the Evening Standard.
‘He is ready. Callum is always in my mind. In my opinion, he is our future,” the Italian manager said. “Now he’s ready to play.”
“Probably he will start tomorrow or in the next match against West Ham,” Sarri informed.
Earlier, Callum Hudson-Odoi also talked about his lack of chances at Chelsea under Sarri. However, the player insisted that he is patient and waiting for the opportunity.
“I’m not impatient,” the youngster said.
“Obviously, I’m always keen to play football, I love the game. But at times you’ve got to be patient and wait for your chance to come and hopefully many more will come.”
