Cheslea Football Club are in a spot of bother. Their wafer thin squad is not good enough for the Champions League and with 4 full-fledged competitions, it seems like their squad depth could be a major hindrance in their bid to win even a single trophy this season.
Roman Abrahmaovic is aware of the concerns and thus is ready to splurge out close to 120 million on squad reinforcements.
They have identified three major targets, none of which are match winners on their own, but could provide great balance and depth to the Chelsea squad.
A fresh bid is being prepared for Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chelsea are also looking to secure the signatures of Virgil van Dijk and Danny Drinkwater.
Drinkwater could slot in as Matic’s replacement and Van Dijk could strengthen their central defence.
But it is Ox that has been identified as the number one transfer target, as he would incredibly strengthen Chelsea’s wing play and provide some much needed backup for Pedro and Hazard.
There were speculations about Hazard moving to Barcelona, after Neymar’s record transfer to PSG, but those reports have died down and it looks like Antonio Conte would succeed in keeping Hazard at Chelsea.
Ox and Arsenal have apparently reached a deadlock as Wenger isn’t willing to sell and Ox has made it clear that he is not ready to sign a new deal with the Gunners. It will be interesting to see if Wenger decides to sell to a direct rival(RVP, anyone?)
Van Dijk has sparked interest from Liverpool all through the summer, and he could be in the middle of a colossal battle between two English giants, who are desperate for his services.
Drinkwater seems like the only deal Chelsea could get out of the three, as he hasn’t received much attention from any other clubs. Conte is reportedly very unhappy with Chelsea’s transfer business, and wants the board to have things his way.
