Chelsea transfer news: Blues eyeing star Ajax forward to bolster attack

Chelsea transfer news: Chelsea have begun making moves in the transfer market as the Blues chase Champions League action next season.

Chelsea are currently at fifth position in the Premier League and face an uphill task for a top-4 race. The side has played 34 games in the league, which is more than any other team currently in the battle for Champions League qualification.

However, as Chelsea face an intense battle for top-4, the side is reportedly making moves in the transfer market. Maurizio Sarri intends to bolster the attack, as the speculations over the departure of Eden Hazard have considerably increased over the last few weeks.

Hazard has failed to confirm his future at Chelsea so far, and Chelsea have begun monitoring their attacking targets.

One of those targets is Hakim Ziyech, who emerged as one of the key players for Ajax this season.

Hakim Ziyech to Chelsea?

Chelsea have reportedly shown an interest in the Ajax forward, following his exploits with the Dutch club in the league and Champions League.

In the 25 appearances he has made so far in the league, Ziyech scored 15 goals, and assisted as many.

However, the Blues could face stiff competition for his signature. It has been reported that Bayern Munich are also considering a move for the player, while fellow London neighbours Arsenal are also interested in a move for Ziyech.

Chelsea may press urgently as Hazard’s departure could weaken their attack tremendously. However, the Blues’ pursuit for the player depends upon their final result in this season.

If Chelsea fails to secure Champions League qualification this season, it might prove difficult for them to persuade Ziyech, as well as many of their other transfer targets this summer. It would be the second consecutive season for Chelsea without the Champions League as well.
