Chennai Super Kings eyeing MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings will be making a grand comeback to the IPL, after being banned for two years, following a spot-fixing scandal. The IPL will have a fresh auction next season, as the 10-year team and player contract came to an end this season.

Chennai Super Kings have already chalked out a plan for next season. Their social media activity will start later this week, with videos of Dhoni and co. taking the fans down memory lane.

“It’s a new start. On Friday, we will have two activities on social media to mark the team’s return. ‘Super Moments’ will revisit our title-wins, Ashwin-Gayle saga and a few others. Then we will ask fans to send their Super Selfie with CSK stars and with yellow jersey,” said  K George John, director Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL).

John then went onto say that if given an option of retaining a player, they’ll always retain Dhoni, for the way he has led the team all this while.

“If we are given an option of retaining a player, it will definitely be Dhoni,” said John.

“We haven’t yet interacted with Dhoni as his contract with Pune ends later this year. However, we will speak to him in the future as and when we make our plans for the next season,” he added.

CSK is trying to tread the tried and tested path, as John has revealed that they would try and lure back the support staff  as well, with Stephen Fleming at the helm of affairs.

“For us, loyalty is very important. That’s been our strength over the years. Though we haven’t yet taken a final decision on the support staff, we are definitely thinking of retaining the old support staff,” he said.

John also said that brand CSK is still going strong, despite being suspended from the IPL for two whole seasons.
