Lewis Hamilton could retire after 2018

Lewis Hamilton has had a near-perfect 2018 season, starting out strong, suffering a minor setback during the middle phase of the season, but storming into the lead with the business end of the season make its appearance.

Lewis now has a 67 point lead in the driver’s standings and should be able to wrap up his 5th World title in the remaining 4 races.

Now, Lewis Hamilton has agreed to a new deal with Mercedes, one that should see him continue with Ferrari up until 2020.

However, a fan theory on reddit suggests that Hamilton could be in his final season of F1.

The fan has admitted that the theory is a crazy one and might not happen for sure, but Hamilton’s recent radio messages make him feel that the Brit could bow out of the sport after winning his 5th World title this season.

The fan feels that Hamilton seems extremely happy and content this year, coming up with phrases like ‘I am having the best day’ etc.

Also, F1 is coming in the way of his other ambitions like fashion and music, and having proved that he is the better driver than Sebastian Vettel this season, Hamilton might have already decided that he going to call it a day at the end of 2018.

The other explanation given by the fan involves Ocon, who could be the final puzzle in this massive fan theory.

Ocon has been strangely composed in the entire saga of him not getting a seat for the 2019 season. The fan feels that Ocon has already worked out a deal with Mercedes for 2019 season(as a replacement for Hamilton).

“I feel this may be Lewis’ last year in F1.” the fan(u/Peregrine4) said.

I say this knowing full well he has a contract past this year signed and that he is absolutely on top of his game. It is mostly regarding his radio in the last few races and how he has been after each race. He has been totally at peace and much happier than at any other point in his career. “I am having the best day” and how he thanks his team and really seems to love his car more than he has in the past, he looks at it lovingly, as if he knows he won’t be doing it for long.

“He seems completely content, as if he has has made a huge decision that has been weighing on him. Other than Shumi’s record, he has nothing left to prove, the only driver that has results wise has come near him is Seb, and this year Lewis firmly proved that he is the faster of the two (coming from a Seb fan).

“It is nearly at the point where F1 is nearly holding back his other ambitions of fashion and music, and these seem to be getting stronger and stronger by the day. The other part of the jigsaw is Ocon. Is there a reason Mercedes would get a drive at Williams for George Russell instead of Ocon? And that Ocon has been relatively calm about the whole thing, congratulating others etc, and doesn’t seem to be making any plans for next year, because he might very well be in the Mercedes.

“Lewis would go out on the absolute top of his game, after defeating the only driver in his career that could hold similar stake to the best ever.

“I don’t necessarily think this is what will happen, but would love to hear others thoughts on it” he added.

Now, with the kind of silly season that we have had this year, one should expect the unexpected, but do you see this happening?
