Adam Zampa IPL team 2020: RCB laud Australian spinner's splendid performance on England tour

RCB laud Australian spinner’s splendid performance: IPL 2020 will be Adam Zampa’s first season at Royal Challengers Bangalore.

During the third ODI of the ongoing Australia’s tour of England in Manchester, Australia spinner Adam Zampa emerged as the pick of their bowlers with bowling figures of 10-0-51-3.

Zampa, who was among the wickets in each of the three ODIs, has become the highest wicket-taker for Australia in a three-match series.

Having picked 10 wickets in three ODIs at an average of 14.20, an economy rate of 4.73 and a strike rate of 18, Zampa is currently the highest wicket-taker in the series having four more wickets than the next best bowler in England’s Chris Woakes.

In the last two years, Zampa’s 43 wickets at an average and economy rate of 32.18 and 5.43 respectively make him the third-highest wicket-taker among spinners in ODIs – only behind India’s Kuldeep Yadav (56) and Yuzvendra Chahal (46).

Given how well the 28-year old spinner has performed across conditions of late, his signing with Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 13th season of the cash-rich league makes all the more sense.

Signed in as a replacement for Australia pacer Kane Richardson, Zampa’s current form has it in it to force RCB’s team management to play him alongside Chahal. With UAE’s pitches assisting spinners, expect Zampa to play a vital role for Bangalore in IPL 2020.

In what will be his second IPL franchise (after Rising Pune Supergiants), RCB took to their Twitter account to laud Zampa’s performance in the third ODI against England.

In 11 matches for Pune in the IPL, Zampa had picked 19 wickets at an average of 14.63, an economy rate of 7.55 and a strike rate of 11.63 including career-best bowling figures of 4-0-19-6 against SunRisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam.
