Amidst a day when India were asked to field first on a batting surface with a highly depleted Playing XI, a couple of visiting players found a way to put on display a hilarious incident in the second session.
The two players here are reserve batsman Prithvi Shaw and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai-pair was involved in not the most pleasing of incidents for themselves but an amusing one for the viewers.
It all happened on the second delivery of the 53rd over when Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne nudged a Washington Sundar on the leg-side to run a single.

Substituting for injured Navdeep Saini at square leg, a zestful Shaw ran towards the ball and threw it towards the non-striker’s end in a bid to attempt for a non-existent run-out.
Not realizing that Sharma hadn’t moved from his position at short mid-wicket, Shaw ended up hitting the ball straight into the former only to invite a glare from the senior player.
Australia, who had lost three wickets including that of Steven Smith before the 100-run mark, are in the driver’s seat at the moment with Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Wade putting together a near-100-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
