KKR congratulate Prasidh Krishna: The 25-year old fast bowler has received a maiden call-up to the ODI squad for England series.

Karnataka and Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has earned a maiden call-up to the Indian team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England.

Krishna, 25, is among the three players including batsman Mumbai batsman Suryakumar Yadav and Baroda captain Krunal Pandya, who have been selected in the ODI squad for the first time. Yadav and Pandya, however, have represented India in two and 18 T20Is respectively.

It was in IPL 2018 that Krishna had rose to prominence after being named injured pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s replacement at Knight Riders. In 24 T20s across three seasons for KKR, Krishna’s 18 wickets have come at an economy and strike rate of 9.33 and 28.61 respectively.

Krishna, who finished the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy season as its seventh-highest wicket-taker, has a significantly better List A record picking 81 wickets in 48 matches at 5.17 and 26.7 respectively.

Named in an 18-member squad, Krishna will compete with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and T. Natarajan for a spot in the Indian Playing XI.

KKR congratulate Prasidh Krishna for maiden ODI call-up

After getting named in the Indian squad, Krishna took to social media platform Twitter to express excitement regarding a “dream come true” moment of his life. Krishna’s tweet was subsequently retweeted by Knight Riders, who congratulated him on the maiden call-up to the national team.

Apart from Knight Riders, Krishna also received good wishes from former KKR captain Dinesh Karthik, former Karnataka captain R Vinay Kumar and KKR CEO Venky Mysore on the same platform.
