CSK vs SRH Pitch Report of MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

The 29th match of the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League will take place between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad tomorrow, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

A formidable side at their home ground in Chepauk, CSK had ended up on the right side of the result during their previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, in what turned out to be a run-fest put on display by both the teams in Bengaluru. They however, had lost their previous home match against the RR by a narrow margin of three runs.

A batting order which has clicked brilliantly so far, it is their injury-marred bowling line-up which has not been up to the mark so far, and which might yet again be a cause of worry especially while defending totals.

SRH, on the other hand, have blown hot and cold so far in the season. While their batters have been inconsistent, the bowlers have not stamped their authority as well. Both the departments however, do have the required talent to pose trouble for CSK on any given day.

It has not really been the traditional spin-spin pitch during the two matches so far this season, which one has witnessed at the MA Chidambaram Stadium over the years.

However, the ball did grip and turn enough during the previous match between CSK and RR at this venue. The trio of Adam Zampa, Ravichanrdan Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal did turn out to be effective while defending a not so challenging total.

“The ball was gripping and hence, we brought Zampa in as the impact player. We had a good powerplay with Rutu getting out and the thought was if we can get out of the powerplay without giving away too much then we have the spinners to do the job,” remarked RR skipper Sanju Samson post the match.

Overall, the pitch might yet again turn out to be decent enough for the batters as long as they face the pacers, with the spinners likely to dry the runs up as the match progresses.
