The 3rd day of the match ended an hour early due to rain, and we saw some great action on the field. Anrich Nortje’s spell was one of the highlights of the game, where he troubled the likes of David Warner, Travis Head and Steve Smith. However, Alex Carey and Cameron Green made some vital contributions in the end.
Nortje has been the best South African bowler so far, and he was indulged in an interesting incident yesterday, where he was knocked out by Fox Cricket’s spider cam on the field. He injured himself a little during the process but was fit enough to bowl for his side.
David Warner calls Anrich Nortje’s spell ‘extraordinary’
David Warner was in awe of the ‘extraordinary spell’ that Anrich Nortje bowled on the 3rd day of the Boxing Day Test. Nortje was breathing fire on Wednesday morning, and it was certainly one of the most lethal spells that were seen in the recent while. He also bowled a 155 km/h delivery that rattled Warner’s helmet.
Nortje was continuously bowling shorter balls at a lethal pace to trouble the batters. He took the wickets on Warner and Travis Head as well. Warne said that it was almost impossible to negate Nortje during th spell as he was bowling with some lethal pace. Even Nortje agreed that it was one of his best spells.

“That’s the fastest spell I have ever faced in my Test career. That was extra-ordinary,” Warner told Fox Cricket.
“To do that in 37-degree heat, to come back and bowl… I think I faced 18 deliveries straight from him. It’s not that I didn’t know what to do, but it was how was I going to pull it, how was I going to duck it and how was I going to eradicate it – you couldn’t.”
“The speed was sheer up there. It was the fastest I’ve ever faced.”
