During the second T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Sydney, India beat Australia by 6 wickets in a thrilling chase.
Chasing a 195-run target to attain an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, India started on an attacking note by scoring 60/1 in the powerplay.
Dhawan, who turned 35 yesterday, took the responsibility upon himself in the form of his 11th T20I half-century. While captain Virat Kohli (40) and his deputy Lokesh Rahul (30) also contribute in the top-order, it was Dhawan’s 52 (36) with the help of four fours and two sixes which put India on the desired path.

Having said that, India losing wickets at regular intervals in the middle-overs required them to score 46 runs in the last four overs. Batting at No. 6 only for the second time in his T20I career, Shreyas Iyer (12*) eased the pressure upon himself and Hardik Pandya by scoring a six and a four in the 18th over off Australia spinner Adam Zampa.
Needing 25 runs off the last two overs, Pandya came to the party to score a couple of boundaries against Andrew Tye and followed it up with a couple of sixes against debutant Daniel Sams in the final over to seal the chase and eventually score 42* (22) with the help of three fours and two sixes.
