"He will definitely start the Australian series": Dinesh Karthik calls KL Rahul a certain starter for Australia Tests despite flop Bangladesh tour

Team India is currently playing the 2nd test against Bangladesh in Mirpur, and they are on the verge of winning it as well. However, the form of KL Rahul is still a bit of concern for the side. Rahul has led India in both tests but his performances with the bat have been really poor.

In three innings of the series, Rahul has just managed to score 55 runs. Shubman Gill has impressed everyone with his performances, and if Rohit would have been fit, it would have been a tough decision for the Indian management to select between Rahul and Gill.

Rahul has been struggling to score in every format of the game. In the T20 World Cup, he was criticized for his approach while batting, and the same form has continued in the red ball as well.

Dinesh Karthik calls KL Rahul a certain starter for Australia Tests

KL Rahul is definitely going through a rough phase, but he has got backing of his mate Dinesh Karthik. Indian wicket-keeper Karthik is currently working with Cricbuzz, and he said that Rahul will be a sure starter in the upcoming test series against Australia starting in February next year.

Karthik said that Rahul is currently leading the Indian team, and it won’t be fair to drop him for the Australia test series. He pointed out that Rahul performed well with the red ball in South Africa and England, and he deserves to get a longer run in the team.

“He’s the captain of the Indian team and you can’t let go of him easy. I think, he will definitely start the Australian series, and if things don’t go well there, that is where the questions will start to arise in a much bigger manner,” Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz.

“Let’s look at the recent past. Before these two Bangladesh Tests, three against South Africa, four against England that he played. In those 7 Tests, he’s got two centuries and two fifties and those are in away conditions.”

Karthik pointed out that Rahul looks tentative while batting, and it is quite common when someone is out of form. He believes that Rahul will come out of this phase soon.
