Highest runs given by a bowler in ODI history: Highest runs in 10 overs by a bowler full list

Playing an ODI after almost six months, New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy faced the harsh side of being a bowler in modern-day limited-overs cricket. If truth be told, Duffy also faced ramifications of bowling at a flat batting-friendly subcontinent pitch on a stadium which has comparatively shorter boundaries.

Duffy, 28, was treated with disdain by the Indian batters in the ongoing third ODI at the Holkar Stadium as he became the 15th bowler to leak 100 or more runs in an ODI match. As far as his country mates are concerned, Duffy is the third bowler after Martin Snedden and Tim Southee to get an infamous feat attached to his name.

Playing only his third ODI as a like-for-like replacement for Henry Shipley, Duffy was handed the opportunity of bowling with a new ball but things didn’t really work for the right-arm bowler today.

Having started with a couple of decent overs, Duffy conceded a six each off Indian openers Rohit Sharma (101) and Shubman Gill (112) in his third over. Duffy, who gave away 25 runs in his first spell consisting of three overs, was brought back into the attack in the last over of the first powerplay. His second spell was reduced to a mere solitary over because of Sharma hitting a four and two sixes in a 17-run over.

Duffy didn’t bowl another over until both the Indian openers were dismissed. It was in the second over of his third spell when Duffy picked his first wicket in the form of former India captain Virat Kohli (36). Although runs were being leaked, Duffy was successful in sending Suryakumar Yadav (14) back to the pavilion in the same spell.

Even though Duffy was able to dismiss India vice-captain Hardik Pandya (54) eventually in his last over, his fourth spell encompassing of a couple of overs saw him leaking 32 runs to finish with expensive bowling figures of 10-0-100-3.
