"I am sure WhatsApp will start blowing up": Indian origin Alana King excited to represent Australia in front of her family & friends during T20Is vs India

India Women and Australia Women will play a 5-match T20I series starting Friday and all the matches will be played in Mumbai. Ahead of the Women’s IPL, both sets of players will be trying to impress with their performances. It is interesting that Australian spinner Alana King was born in India.

Australia Women’s team is the current T20 World champion, and with the T20 World Cup approaching, the team will be looking to set their combination. There are some changes in the Australian team as players like Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes are not part of the squad.

Alyssa Healy is the new captain of the side, and Ellyse Perry is also back in the T20 setup. The spinners of the side like Ashleigh Gardner, Alana King, Jess Jonassen, etc will be vital on this tour.

Alana said that she has quite a few relatives in Mumbai, and she expects them to be present at the stadium to watch her play. Although, it will be interesting to see as she will be playing against India.

“A few family friends might be making the trip,” King told AAP.

“There are a few in Mumbai. Hopefully I get to see them and they get to see me play in the flesh. That will be cool.”

“When I do speak to them it is like nothing has changed and that could be a few months apart. And that would be cool for them to see me play cricket.

“I am sure WhatsApp will start blowing up close to the game.”

King has slowly become an integral part of the Australian women’s team setup. She came onto the radar after a breakthrough season with the Perth Scorchers in the WBBL last season, where she scalped 16 wickets for Perth Scorchers at an economy of 5.84.

King has played a combined total of 24 international matches, which includes one test, and she has scalped 31 wickets so far. On the Indian pitches, she will be a great asset.
