As the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) awaits the fans, the season might well also mark the last they may ever see MS Dhoni on the field again, with him already hinting at bidding adieu to the sport by playing in front of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) home crowd at The Chepauk, in Chennai next year.

Ever so popular for his aplenty on-field stellar decisions at crucial junctures of the matches, be it during the 2007 T20 World Cup final, the 2011 World Cup final, or the 2013 Champions Trophy final to name a few, the now 41-year-old is still considered second to none when it comes to man-management skills or for his ability to read the game.
Despite it all, Dhoni does not consider it a viable option to join the field of politics after retiring from the sport altogether.
MS Dhoni reveals reasons why he might never join politics
During a brand promotion event alongside renowned actor and television presenter Mandira Bedi a few months ago, MS Dhoni was informed by the former that as per a survey, he was the second-most admired man in India after our present Prime Minister.
Amidst the applause from the audience, Dhoni hilariously remarked that he must stand in an election now, considering the survey results. Bedi was quick to lead the 41-year-old into this statement by stating that this option is well on the cards for him in the near future, as he is loved by the people so much.
However, Dhoni was of the view that he is more of an Army guy than a politician, and will perhaps have to come up with a lot of changes within himself to become successful in this very field.
“I’m more of an Army guy than a politician. I love spending time with the army. I’m pretty much straight-forward. If I ever have to get in politics, I’ll have to really study a lot, do a lot of changes and only then I’ll be able to adapt. But, it is a big thing to be admired by so many people, and thanks to Cricket. If I’d not been playing Cricket, there wouldn’t be so many people admiring me,” remarked Dhoni.
