IND vs SL head to head record: India vs Sri Lanka T20 head to head records and stats

India and Sri Lanka will be playing their first international match of 2023 tomorrow. The first of a three-match T20I series will be played at the Wankhede Stadium before the remaining two matches which will also be played in this part of the country only.

India, who’ve won three out of their last five T20Is against Sri Lanka, had ended up on the losing side in their last clash four months ago. Overall, India have a pretty impressive head-to-head record against Sri Lanka (especially at home).

In what was an Asia Cup 2023 Super Four match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the last T20I between these two teams had witnessed India failing to defend a 174-run target due to Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis’ 97-run opening partnership and Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka’s unbeaten 64-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

A bilateral T20I series which doesn’t have a lot of importance other than being played for the sake of entertainment in an ODI World Cup year would be looking to unearth lesser known talents across both the teams. With the hosts set to play another T20I series without senior players, expect the likes of Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar, Umran Malik etc. doing the heavy lifting this week.
