After a disappointing 2022 season overall, the Indian team will start their home season again against Sri Lanka. A three-match T20I series will be followed by a three-match ODI series. The first T20I between both sides will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on January 3rd, 2023.

Team India have announced their squad for both series, where Hardik Pandya will lead the T20I squad and Rohit Sharma will be the captain of the ODI side. KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are all part of the ODIs, but they will not play in the T20I series. Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the ODI squad.
There is an ODI World Cup in India this year, and it will certainly be prioritized. This Sri Lankan series is vital for many players in the squad and everyone would want to perform in their respective opportunities. Sri Lanka have shown in the past that they can outperform any team on their day.

Sri Lanka recently announced the squads for the T20Is and ODIs, where Dasun Shakana will lead the side in both formats of the game. Wanindu Hasaranga will be Shanaka’s deputy in the T20Is, whereas Kusal Mendis will be the vice-captain of the side in the ODI format.
Ahead of the series, there won’t be any practice matches for any of the sides. It is certain that the home side does not require any warm-up matches, whereas the Sri Lankan team is also quite used to the conditions here. Both teams will play the first T20I on Tuesday.
Both India and Sri Lanka play quite a lot against each other, and there is a series almost every year between them. After the last year’s Asia Cup, the Indian team won’t take the Sri Lankan team lightly at all even in their home conditions.
