The second Test match of the ongoing England’s tour of India will commence from tomorrow at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Despite winning the first Test by a comprehensive margin, England are all set to make four changes to their Playing XI.
In a bid to manage the workload of the 38-year old legendary bowler, the visitors have rested James Anderson for the second Test. Spinner Dom Bess, who had been inconsistent in the first Test despite picking four wickets in the first innings, has also been left out.
Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler, who was only in the squad for the first Test, has returned back home. On the other hand, fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out after having an injection in his right elbow.
Going by their 12-member squad announced on the eve of the match, England are highly likely to pick one out of Chris Woakes and Olly Stone as the second specialist pacer provided they don’t end up taking a left-field decision.

As far as India are concerned, they haven’t given away anything with respect to their combination for this match. That being said, the Virat Kohli-led team is most likely to hand a Test debut to all-rounder Axar Patel. It will be interesting to see if India will include chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav for all-rounder Washington Sundar tomorrow or not.
