The fourth Test of the ongoing England’s tour of India will begin from tomorrow at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With India coming exceedingly well from behind to win the last two Tests, even a draw will see them clinch the four-match Test series. England, on the other hand, desperate need a victory to retain the Anthony de Mello Trophy.
As far as the status of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship is concerned, England are out of the race to qualify for the final match. However, they are in a perfect position to spoil India’s chances. While an English victory will open the doors for their arch-rivals Australia to face New Zealand in the final match, an Indian victory or even a draw will propel India to the finals.
Given how there have been multiple debates on the condition of pitches in this series, it would be interesting to see how the fourth Test progresses. That being said, fans shouldn’t expect drastic changes with respect to the pitch for this match.
💬 “Unfortunate that there’s too much noise about spinning tracks.”
