The second Test of the ongoing England’s tour of India will commence from February 13 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Having last hosted a Test match more than four years ago, Chennai will now host back-to-back Tests citing limited travel in the COVID-19 era.
The last time Chennai hosted a couple of Tests in the same year was in 2008 when it hosted South Africa and England in March and December respectively.
With international cricket returning to India in the form of the ongoing first Test, an even better development lies in the fact that spectators will be allowed to watch the second match although in a limited capacity.
UPDATE:
In view of the Government announcement that 50% occupancy would be allowed in stadia, #TNCA will allow 50% spectators for the second Test between India and England. The first Test will be played behind closed doors without spectators.
