India vs Pakistan match 2021: When was the last time India and Pakistan played a T20I against each other?

India vs Pakistan match 2021: India and Pakistan will face each other in a T20I after more than half-a-decade later this year.

It was this morning that the ICC (International Cricket Council) announced the fixtures of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to be held in UAE and Oman.

The development confirmed the reports doing the rounds that the bumper Group stage clash between India and Pakistan will be played on October 24 (Sunday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The match will be the fourth match played on the second day of Round 2 fixtures. It is worth mentioning that the Super 12s will only begin a day before the India-Pakistan contest.

Readers must note that both India and Pakistan are in Group 2 alongside New Zealand and Afghanistan and two more teams who will join from the qualifying Round 1.

Having last played at the highest level against each other during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in Manchester, the arch-rivals will be locking horns after almost two and a half years.

As far as playing in the shortest format is concerned, the last India-Pakistan T20I was played during the ICC World Twenty20 2016 in Kolkata when a disciplined bowling performance was followed by a Virat Kohli half-century in a 6-wicket Indian victory.

The fact that India and Pakistan haven’t played a T20I in between two World Cups tells enough about their limited encounters outside of world events due to reasons other than cricket.
