Indian Premier League 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans is under a rain threat. Ahmedabad witnessed rain ahead of the Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat as well, but it stopped at the right time. Although, unlike the playoffs, there is a reserve day for the title-deciding clash.

As per weather portal AccuWeather, there’s a rain probability of 64% in the city. A minimum of a 5-over encounter is mandatory to get a result out of the game. The weather has been mostly kind throughout the tournament so far with just one match in Lucknow getting abandoned due to rain.
This might be Chennai captain MS Dhoni’s last match and if rain hampers the proceedings, the traveling fans in yellow will be disappointed to a tee. Although having a reserved day for the same is a sort of relief for everyone as none would want a crunch game like this to be finished anywhere other than the field.
IPL Final Reserve Day
First things first, every effort will be made to complete the match on Sunday itself. The first ball will have to be bowled on or before 09:35 PM (local time) for a 20-over match. Number of overs will start to reduce after this deadline. Furthermore, the match can be delayed till 12:06 AM (next day) to get a 5-over match tonight.
If it’s still not possible to complete a match, then the match will start from the exact same situation on the reserve day, i.e., May 29 (tomorrow). If only the toss happens on Sunday and play doesn’t take place at all, then a fresh toss will take place on the reserve day. Hence, the teams will be allowed to make changes to the Playing XI. However, even if a single ball gets bowled, no changes can be made and the game will start from that particular moment.
On Monday, an additional 120 minutes will be added to the timings. If the rain continues to pour down on Monday as well and even a 5-over match is not possible, a super over will be played. The latest time to get a super over is 01:20 AM (Tuesday).
What Will Happen If CSK vs GT IPL 2023 Final Gets Abandoned Due To Rain?
According to Sports Tak, if each of the above mentioned scenario fails and even a super over is not possible during the reserve day, Gujarat Titans will be crowned IPL 2023 champions because of their top position on the points table during the league stage.
