"It'll be nice": Tim Southee jokes with fan on dismissing Virat Kohli in WTC Final vs India

Tim Southee jokes with fan: An Indian fan was seen joking around with the senior Kiwi pacer at an airport in New Zealand.

A majority of New Zealand’s cricket players have reached England for their imminent two-match Test series against England followed by the final match of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship against India.

While one group reached London from Auckland via Singapore, another one, which had taken part in Indian Premier League 2021, landed in England from Maldives.

Comprising of batsman Ross Taylor, wicket-keeper batsman BJ Watling and the bowling pair of Tim Southee and Neil Wagner, the group from Auckland encountered an Indian fan at the airport to register an amusing incident.

Upon clicking a selfie with Taylor initially, the fan then click one with Southee. “Are you going to take Virat Kohli’s wicket, buddy,” the fan asked Southee.

“It’ll be nice,” a smiling Southee responded.

Scheduled to be played from June 18, the Test Championship final will be the first time when India and New Zealand will lock horns against each other at a neutral venue.

In eight Tests against India, Southee has picked 39 wickets at an impressive average and strike rate of 24.46 and 43.2 respectively including a couple of five-wicket hauls. As far as his battle with Virat Kohli is concerned, he has dismissed the Indian captain thrice in 10 Test innings. In the five Tests that Southee has played in England, his 20 wickets have come at 34.30 and 63.1.

Kohli, on the other hand, has scored 773 runs in 17 Test innings against New Zealand at an average of 51.53 including three centuries and as many half-centuries.
