Jasprit Bumrah news: Why will Bumrah not play 4th Test between India and England in Ahmedabad?

Jasprit Bumrah not play 4th Test: The Indian spearhead is all set to miss the fourth Test between India and England.

Scheduled to begin from March 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the fourth Test match between India and England won’t witness the presence of India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

The development was made public after BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) issued a statement on Bumrah’s absence.

With India currently leading the four-match series 2-1, they would be looking to not lose the last Test. While a loss will prevent them from winning the series, it will also hamper their chances of qualifying for the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship.

Bumrah, who was earlier rested for the second Test in Chennai, has picked four wickets in two Tests at an average and strike rate of 30.50 and 52.7 respectively in this series. Given how the pitch behaved in the previous match, Bumrah had bowled a total of six overs throughout the match.

Why will Jasprit Bumrah not play 4th Test between India and England?

It is worth mentioning that Bumrah will miss the fourth Test due to “personal reasons”. With him getting a rest now, expect him to return for the upcoming five T20Is and three ODIs.

“Jasprit Bumrah made a request to BCCI to be released from India’s squad ahead of the fourth Test owing to personal reasons. Accordingly, the fast bowler has been released and he will not be available for selection for the fourth Test,” BCCI said in a statement.

In Bumrah’s absence, India are highly likely to include one out of Umesh Yadav or Mohammed Siraj for the fourth Test. While Yadav is yet to play a Test in this series, Siraj had replaced Bumrah in the second Test.
