England pacer Jofra Archer is playing for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League 2023. Archer is currently nursing an injury and his team would want him to make his return as soon as possible. Considered as one of the most lethal pacers around, Archer was bought by Mumbai last year for INR 8 crore despite knowing that he won’t be available for the season.

Archer was born in 1995 in Barbados and he was active in sports since childhood. Apart from cricket, Archer used to participate in long-jump competitions as well. He even represented West Indies U-19 team in 2013 but failed to make World Cup 2014 team due to a back injury.
After his 18th birthday, English pacer Chris Jordan advised Archer to move to England in 2015. He attended Dulwich College in London. Archer made his T20 debut for Sussex in 2016 against Hampshire in T20 Blast.

Archer’s father’s name is Frank Archer, whereas Joelle Waithe is his mother. Frank holds a British passport and used to be a London underground metro driver. Jofra got British nationality from his father and his mother is from Barbados. He doesn’t have any siblings.
Joelle divorced Frank when Archer was just three years old. Patrick is Archer’s stepfather and he was the one who coached Archer to become a pacer. Both Joelle and Patric were present when Archer won ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with England.

Talking about Archer’s relationship status, he is not married yet but there are rumours that he is dating Druanna Butler. Butler is from Barbados and both of them attended Christ Church Foundation School in Barbados.
Archer loves playing video games and is often seen playing Fortnite and Call of Duty. Talking about his car collection, he owns a Land Rover Range Rover Sport.
When did Jofra Archer become eligible to play for England?
Archer was not supposed to play for England till 2022 as per England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) rules. According to the old rules, a player who has not lived in England before his 18th birthday will have to live in the country for at least seven years to become eligible to play for the national team.

However, in 2018, England reduced the length from seven years to three years. Archer made his debut for England in an ODI against Ireland in 2019 and was selected the World Cup squad as well.
