Krunal Pandya and Tom Curran fight: Pandya and Curran involved in heated exchange in Pune ODI

Krunal Pandya and Tom Curran fight: Temperatures were soaring between the debutant Indian all-rounder and the English pacer.

During the first ODI of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Pune, India all-rounder Krunal Pandya and England pacer Tom Curran were involved in a heated exchange of words during the business end of the Indian innings.

While the exact reason behind the same remains unknown, it all had happened during the penultimate over of the Indian innings. On the second-last delivery, Pandya had ran a single off Curran to reach the non-striker’s end.

Just as he completed the run, Curran gave the impression of uttering some words which received an instant and heated response from the debutant. Soon enough, the on-field umpire and England stand-in captain Jos Buttler intervened to calm the two players.

After England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and invited India in to bat, the hosts put on board a dominating 317/5 in 50 overs on the back of half-centuries from opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (98), wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Rahul (62 not out), Krunal Pandya (58 not out) and captain Virat Kohli (56).

With India losing half their side in the 41st over, the English bowlers appeared to register a praiseworthy comeback. However, an unbeaten 112-run partnership off 63 deliveries for the sixth wicket between Rahul and Krunal Pandya gave the Indian innings a finish which they deserved after an 105-run partnership for the second wicket between Dhawan and Kohli.
