Man of the Series of today cricket match: Who won the Man of the Series in Australia vs India Test series?

Man of the Series of today cricket match: The intriguing four-match Test series has ended in a historic victory for India at the Gabba.

There is not an iota of doubt among the cricketing fraternity that the recently concluded four-match Test series between Australia and India will go down as one of the best-ever series played.

While the Australia-India rivalry is not new any means, the daunting circumstances of this Test series not bothering the eventual winners puts this one in an all-time elite list.

India, who have now registered a couple of consecutive Test series victories in Australia, thrived this time on the back of an out and out team performance. The manner in which the visitors witnessed different players (mostly unexpected ones) taking the onus on themselves in different situations speaks highly of the team’s character.

India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who scored a match-winning fourth Test half-century, defined the victory as “one of the biggest things in life“. Having scored 89* (138) with the help of nine fours and a six, Pant bailed out India when things have totally gone the other way and was a deserving winner of the ‘Man of the Match’ award.

Despite Pant also top-scoring for India in the series, it was Australia vice-captain Pat Cummins who was awarded with the ‘Man of the Series’ award.

Having picked 21 wickets in four Tests at an average of 20.04, an economy rate of 2.59 and a strike rate of 46.3, Cummins was the highest wicket-taker in the series.

The 27-year old player was duly lauded for bowling a total of 162.1 overs – highest among fast bowlers in the series. The sheer tireless manner in which Cummins brought back Australia into the game on numerous occasions in the series with a breakthrough was second to none.
