When Brendon McCullum was appointed as the test coach of England’s cricket team, it raised a lot of eyebrows as this was McCullum’s first-ever international assignment, and he just coached all the T20 franchise teams in the past. The idea of making him just the test coach surprised many.

However, the duo of McCullum and new captain Ben Stokes earned applause from the cricketing fraternity around the world. The way England has played in the test format of the game has excited everyone, and they did not lose a single series in their home test summer.
When England chased 299 runs in Nottingham against New Zealand, the whole world got surprised as this was the highest chase on that ground. Even in the ongoing Rawalpindi test, McCullum and his team are playing with the approach of winning the match without any fear of defeat.
Sam Billings reveals Brendon McCullum hates the term ‘Bazball’
Sam Billings will be playing for the Brisbane Heat in the upcoming Big Bash League, and he attended the launch event on the behalf of his franchise. Billings was there asked about the most famous term ‘Bazball’, which is used after the appointment of their test head coach Brendon McCullum.
Billings said that McCullum absolutely hates that term, and there is nothing like that. Earlier, Jonny Bairstow also said that this term is just made by the media, and there is no such term that is used inside the team’s dressing room. However, Billings lauded McCullum’s effort of changing the mindset of the English team about playing test cricket.
“He (McCullum) hates that term,” Billings told foxsports.com.au.
“It is amazing, I think it’s a lesson for everyone really, it is change of mindset, you have the same players, literally have the same players.”
“You change the mindset, and obviously the coach and captain, but you change the mindset of the group and you also get everyone moving in the same direction collectively, it shows how powerful it can be.”
Sam Billings on PAK vs ENG Rawalpindi test
The current Rawalpindi test between Pakistan and England is certainly one of the most interesting test matches in the recent past, and all the credit goes to the English side for their aggressive approach in order to get a result. Billings said that this test is such a good advertisement for test cricket.
“Incredibly exciting, the test is always going to be away from home in different conditions and look, Rawalpindi was a very flat pitch, but what an advert for Test cricket,” Billings added.
