Mohali’s Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium will be hosting the 27th match of Indian Premier League 2023. Punjab Kings will lock horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their home conditions. This is the second afternoon game of this season in the city.

The Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants in their last match in away conditions, which is a confidence booster. However, an injury to captain Shikhar Dhawan is a massive worry for the side. All-rounder Sam Curran led the team well last time round, and he would look to continue doing the same if Dhawan remains unavailable.

Royal Challengers have won two of their five games this season. Their last defeat against Chennai Super Kings at home was a massive blow for them. Captain Faf du Plessis and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell were great in their last match, but it is high time that their bowling steps up now.

The pitch in Mohali has been a beautiful track to bat on, and the batters can play their shots at will here. However, it is well-known that it is one of the best places for the pacers in the country. In the initial overs, they can be instrumental with the new ball. Considering the amount of bounce, bouncers could be a key here.

“The pitch is an absolute beauty, not for the bowlers but for the batters. Would probably look to bowl first. Big ground, lots of pockets, and batters will have to do a lot of running,” former India spinner Murali Kartik had said on Star Sports during his analysis of the pitch before the last match here.

The boundaries are comparatively bigger at this stadium, which aids the spinners in the middle overs of the game. For the batters, they need to compensate for the large dimensions by running hard between the wickets.

It is a day match, so the dew won’t play any part. The average first innings T20 score here is 166 runs and both captains would look to bowl first after winning the toss.
