India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the wittiest players around the circuit. Not just on the field, but he is famous for his quirky replies across social media platforms as well. One such incident happened after India’s win over Australia in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

Ashwin uploaded a picture on Instagram in front of the MCG’s honour board and captain Rohit Sharma also commented on the same where they trolled batter Cheteshwar Pujara. It is to note that none gave a chance to the Indian team in that match, but they emerged victorious. They lost the first Test in Adelaide, where they got bundled out for just 36 runs in the second innings.
Then Indian captain Virat Kohli also left the team after the Adelaide Test to be with wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane took charge of the side for the remainder of the series leading them to a historic victory.
Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin Once Hilariously Trolled Cheteshwar Pujara
In addition to Pujara and Rahane, Ashwin posted a picture alongside all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav. While all of them were posing casually, Pujara was standing in an ‘attention’ position. Sharma commented on the same and pointed out Pujara’s posture, to which Ashwin gave a hilarious reply.
“Pujara too stiff,” Sharma commented on the post.
“National anthem was playing in his head,” Ashwin replied on Sharma’s comment.

For the unversed, Sharma was not playing that match and was serving his mandatory 14-day quarantine in Sydney. He missed the limited-overs series as well due to an injury and joined the team for the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Talking about the Melbourne Test, India defeated Australia by 8 wickets to level the series. Rahane was declared the Player of the Match for playing a knock of 112 (223) in the first innings. Ashwin scalped five wickets in the match and played a big part in the win.
Rahane played a masterstroke in that match by giving Ashwin the opportunity to bowl in the 11th over of the first day itself ahead of pacer Mohammed Siraj. Ashwin justified the decision right by dismissing Matthew Wade in just his second over. It was Siraj’s Test debut and he shared an interesting incident about the same later on.

Pujara was one of India’s most grittiest players on that tour. The team suffered a lot of injuries in the series and Pujara took a lot of body blows as well. He scored 271 runs with the help of three half-centuries and was in fourth place on the list of highest run-scorers.
Talking about Sharma and Ashwin, the former had an instant impact and he scored 129 runs in two matches with the help of a half-century. Ashwin, meanwhile, was excellent with the ball as he scalped 12 wickets in three Tests.
