Navdeep Saini injury: What happened to Navdeep Saini? Is Saini still off the field in Brisbane Test vs Australia?

Navdeep Saini injury: The Indian fast bowler has become the latest entrant in the already elongated list of injured players.

During the first day of the fourth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Brisbane, India fast bowler Navdeep Saini became the latest visiting player to suffer a niggle whilst playing a Test match.

With Indian players’ fitness woes continuing down under, Saini immediately walked off the ground upon receiving medical attention at the Gabba.

It all happened after the penultimate delivery of the 36th over when Saini was seen lying on the ground with what appeared to be a groin niggle.

It is worth mentioning that Saini walking off the ground wasn’t the only concern for India. Saini’s last delivery had witnessed India captain Ajinkya Rahane dropping a straightforward chance at gully to give a huge reprieve to Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne.

Playing only his second Test match, Saini returned to the field as players stopped for a drinks break after the 40th over. The 28-year old player had calmed millions of Indian fans with his presence on the field but it didn’t last for very long.

Having fielded for several overs without bowling, Saini was seen walking-off the Gabba yet again. Going by an official update from the BCCI, Saini has suffered a groin niggle and is currently being treated for the same.

Earlier today, it was Australia captain Tim Paine who had won the toss and chose to bat. Already battling with numerous injuries, India ended up handing Test debuts to all-rounder Washington Sundar and fast bowler T. Natarajan. Apart from the pair from Tamil Nadu, India have also included batsman Mayank Agarwal and pacer Shardul Thakur into their Playing XI.
