Nehal Wadhera Hometown: Which State does Mumbai Indians' Batter Represent in Domestic Cricket?

Batter Nehal Wadera has impressed everyone with his performances in his maiden season of the Indian Premier League. He is playing for Mumbai Indians in the tournament but plays for Punjab in the domestic circuit. Wadhera originally hails from Ludhiana in Punjab.

Wadhera came into the limelight after he played a knock of 578 (414) against Bathinda in Punjab State Inter-district U-23 tournament. During that inning, he scored the fastest 200, 300, 400 and 500 runs in any level of recognized domestic cricket in India.

Earlier this year, he made his first-class debut for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy. To showcase his talent, he scored a century in the very first match against Gujarat. He then scored a double-century against Madhya Pradesh. He has played in five first-class games so far, where he has scored 376 runs at an average of 53.51.

As mentioned earlier, Wadhera is from Ludhiana and he completed his graduation from Satish Chander Dhawan Government College. He is not from any cricketing background and has trained at the Ludhiana District Cricket Association academy. Wadhera was put into cricket by his mother only.

During summer vacations, Wadhera’s mother made him join a summer camp to utilize his time. He was judged as the best player in the camp which encouraged his parents to enroll him in a cricket academy. They even changed his school after the tenth standard so that he could give more time to the game.

Nehal Wadhera Family Details

Kamal Wadhera is Nehal’s father and he is the owner of TCY Learning Solutions, an online coaching platform for students. Gurpreet Wadhera is Nehal’s mother and she is also an entrepreneur. Nehal also has an elder sister named Rhythm Wadhera.

Nehal was bought by Indians for his base price of INR 20 Lakh during IPL 2023 auction. None expected Mumbai to start him straightaway but he made his debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Despite playing against such big names, Wadhera has been able to make a name for himself.
