ODI squad of India: India have named an 18-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series beginning from March 23.

With only a handful of days remaining, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have announced a strong 18-member squad for a three-match ODI series between India and England.
Batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who rose to prominence with a maiden T20I half-century in debut innings, has been rewarded with a maiden call-up to the ODI squad. Other than Yadav, Baroda captain Krunal Pandya and Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna have also been included in the ODI squad for the first time.
Krunal, 29, has played 18 T20Is for India with his last international appearance coming during Bangladesh’s tour of India in 2019. In the recently concluded season of Vijay Hazare Trophy, Pandya was Baroda’s highest run-scorer amassing 388 runs at an average and strike rate of 129.33 and 117.93 respectively which also comprised of two centuries and half-centuries each in five outings.

Krishna, on the other hand, is yet to represent India but finished the Vijay Hazare season as its seventh-highest wicket-taker picking 14 wickets in seven matches at an average of 22.21, an economy rate of 5.44 and a strike rate of 24.5.

Vice-captain Rohit Sharma, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, all-rounder Washington Sundar and the pacer-duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Siraj are the other players who weren’t part of the ODI squad in Australia but have been included for England ODIs.
While Sharma and Kumar were injured during the tour of Australia, Pant has regained his spot after stellar contributions in Test cricket. Sundar and Siraj, who had made their ODI debuts in 2017 and 2019 respectively, are yet to play another ODI since then.
As far as the players who had toured Australia but aren’t part of the 18-member squad, batting trio of Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey and Sanju Samson and bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Navdeep Saini haven’t been included in the squad.
