On what looks like a belter of a pitch to bat on in Guwahati, which is hosting its first-ever IPL match tonight, the 22-year-old batter from Punjab smashed his maiden IPL half-century tonight off mere 28 deliveries, to lay an ideal foundation for a huge total.
Opening the batting alongside his skipper Shikhar Dhawan, PBKS scored 63 runs in the Powerplay with Prabhsimran doing majority of the scoring, smashing 45 runs off mere 23 deliveries.
With Dhawan playing the role of a second fiddle, Prabhsimran carried on with his exploits at the other end until he got dismissed at the score of 60 (34), which comprised of 7 Fours and 3 Sixes.
Credit to Jos Buttler, who took his excellent diving catch at the mid-off region, thus bringing about an end to his innings and breaking the 90-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Prabhsimran Singh IPL Salary
Having set his base price at INR 20 Lakh during the mega auction ahead of IPL 2022 in February last year, Prabhsimran Singh was ultimately roped in by PBKS at INR 60 Lakh.
Although he played just one match last IPL season, the wicket-keeper batter was retained by the Punjab franchise (at the same price) during the mini auction last December ahead of IPL 2023.
Having made his IPL debut during the 2019 edition of the league under Punjab Kings back then as well, he has represented the franchise across each season since then, although has not got an opportunity to play more than a couple of matches during each of these four seasons.
Having scored a quick fire 23 (12) during the previous match against KKR as well, he is highly likely to be handed more than a handful of games in the ongoing season.
