The sixth season of the Pakistan Super League, which had to be postponed due to COVID-19 earlier this year, appears all set to resume in the UAE. While the second phase of PSL 2021 continues to search for a start date, the tournament should begin again by the end of June first week or start of second week.
In addition to a few logistical reasons, the tournament has now further been delayed after a total of 11 players and officials were denied to fly in a commercial plane which would have reached Abu Dhabi via Doha.
Having commenced on February 20, PSL 2021 had managed to conduct 14 matches in less than a couple of weeks. The remaining 34 matches will now be played in Abu Dhabi within a short span of time to complete Pakistan’s biggest T20 comeptition.
Led by Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim, Karachi Kings are at the top of the points table on the back of three victories in five matches. Much like Karachi, Wahab Riaz-led Peshawar Zalmi have also won three and lost two matches to be at the second position on the table.
With three wins and a loss each to their name, Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars grab the next two positions followed by Multan Sultans and Quette Gladiators – both of whom have won one and lost four matches.
