Rashid Khan run-out vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots: Barbados Tridents' bowler outfoxes Evin Lewis in CPL 2020

Rashid Khan run-out: Barbados Tridents’ player contributed across divisions in his team’s six-run victory at the Brian Lara Stadium.

During the second match of the ongoing eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League between Barbados Tridents and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Tarouba, Barbados Tridents spinner Rashid Khan put on display an astute bit of fielding to outfox St Kitts and Nevis Patriots opening batsman Evin Lewis.

It all happened on the third delivery of the seventh over when Patriots’ Joshua Da Silva hit a Rashid Khan delivery straight back to the stumps at the non-striker’s end.

With the ball far away from Rashid’s hand, there wasn’t a question regarding if the non-striker in Lewis had backed up too far or not. However, Lewis showing interest in a single after the ball hit the stumps found him in trouble.

Observing Lewis’ intention of running a single, Rashid quickly collected the ball and uprooted the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Given the urgency, Rashid’s effort might not be the cleanest. Having said that, it was enough to find Lewis short of his crease.

Opening the batting with Chris Lynn (19), Lewis ended up scoring a below par 12 (18) before making his way back to the pavilion. Chasing a 154-run target, Patriots could manage 147/5 against a disciplined bowling effort from Tridents.

Rashid, who won the Dream11 MVP crown for his all-round performance, also scored 26* (20) with the help of two fours and a six to play a vital role in Tridents posting a competitive 153/9 and dismissed St Kitts and Nevis’ Denesh Ramdin (13) and Jahmar Hamilton (13) on successive deliveries in the 18th over.
