Team India won yet another bilateral ODI series when they defeated Sr Lanka by 4 wickets in the 2nd ODI in Karachi. It is certain that the Indian team would want to complete the whitewash, and they would want to repeat their performance in Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium as well.

Team India’s success rate in bilateral ODIs has been great, but they have not been able to repeat their performances in the ICC tournament. Although, India lost their last series against Bangladesh, so it is certainly a confidence booster win for the side. With an ODI World Cup this year, each ODI has its own importance.
It is said that BCCI have already shortlisted 20 players for the World Cup, and the players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, etc will play a big part in it. After the Sri Lankan team, New Zealand will also play three ODIs against India.
Rohit Sharma captaincy record in ODI
Rohit Sharma was made the permanent captain of the Indian team after the 2021 T20 World Cup. Rohit’s performance as captain for Mumbai Indians in the IPL is proof that Rohit was the most worthy candidate for the role. Everyone expected that Rohit will win the T20 World Cup for India, but it was not meant to be.
Rohit’s record as an ODI captain is great as well, and the records prove the fact. He won the Asia Cup as captain with India when Virat Kohli decided to take a rest from the tournament in 2018. Under Rohit’s captaincy, Team India has lost just one ODI series, and it was against Bangladesh last month.
With ICC World Cup later this year, there are a lot of expectations from Rohit that he will lead the Indian team to an ICC trophy. It can be said that Rohit may not get a chance to lead the Indian team in an ICC tournament if the team India fails to win the tournament this year.
