Mohammed Siraj drops Steve Smith: The Indian fast bowler misjudged what should’ve been a simple catch at the Gabba.

During the fourth day of the fourth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Brisbane, India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj became the latest entrant in the long list of players to have dropped a catch on this tour.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 50th over when Smith decided to take on India all-rounder Washington Sundar. Despite a long-on in place, Smith stepped out to hit Sundar down the ground.
Siraj, who was fielding at long-on, misjudged the catch as he was seen moving forward. While Siraj did his best thereafter to grab a catch, the rescue act required too much of a work for him to do.

Had the judgement been better, it would’ve been comparatively easier for Siraj to complete the catch. In addition to the catch getting dropped, India also conceded a boundary.
Smith, who was batting at 42* at that moment, subsequently registered his 31st Test half-century to play a pivotal role in taking the Australian lead past the 200-run mark.
With Australia leading by 218 runs at the end of the 53rd over, it would be interesting to see how the likes of Smith, Cameron Green and Tim Paine bat with a possible declaration in mind in a bid to register a victory to win the match.

Mohammed Siraj has been an absolute revelation this series, but he’s dropped two catches in 15 minutes which could have seen India chasing 260ish for the win. Big moments. #AUSvIND
