Super Smash Cricket: Neil Broom reverse ramps Blair Tickner to hit jaw-dropping six in Otago vs Central Districts match

Neil Broom reverse ramps Blair Tickner: The batsman from Otago played a highly innovative shot off a premier fast bowler.

During the 11th match of the ongoing season of Super Smash between Otago and Central Districts in Dunedin, Otago opening batsman Neil Broom arguably played the shot of the match against Central Districts pacer Blair Tickner.

It all happened on the fourth delivery of the second over when Broom played a reverse ramp shot off Tickner to exhibit extra ordinary stroke-making.

Having initially moved towards the leg-side against a full delivery, Broom was quick enough to adjust and eventually made sound contact with the ball to guide it over the third-man region for a six.

Opening the batting with Hamish Rutherford (25), Broom didn’t last long as he departed after scoring 15 (7) with the help of one four and one six. Chasing a mammoth 224-run target, Otago required more such shots but it wasn’t to be despite Nick Kelly 75 (54) in the middle-order.

For Central Districts, spinner Ajaz Patel was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-34-3. While Doug Bracewell picked a couple of wickets, Joey Field and Ticket dismissed a batsman each to register a 53-run victory.

After Otago captain Jacob Duffy won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat, Central Districts scored a formidable 223/5 in 20 overs on the back of captain George Worker’s maiden T20 century. Opening the batting with Bayley Wiggins (16), Worker amassed 106 (58) with the help of six fours and eight sixes before getting out in the penultimate over.
