Tom Banton: Watch English opener hits monstrous reverse sweep off Imad Wasim in Manchester T20I

Tom Banton: The English opening batsman played a courageous shot against the Pakistani all-rounder at the Old Trafford.

During the second T20I of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of England in Manchester, England opening batsman Tom Banton continued his red-hot form to hit a monstrous reverse sweep off Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim.

After showing respect to the left-arm spinner in his first over, both Banton and wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow attacked Wasim in his second over.

On the first ball of the over, Banton put on display a reverse sweep out of nowhere to his the ball over the third-man region for a six. The surprise element in the shot was enough for it to become a source of amazement for one and all.

Coming on the back of scoring his maiden T20I half-century in the first match, Banton played second fiddle in a startling 66-run opening partnership alongside Bairstow (44). With the latter getting out to Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan in the seventh over, Banton was expected to steer England in the daunting chase.

However, the right-hand batsman missed a sweep on the following delivery to get trapped in front of the wickets. Banton ended up scoring 20 (16) with the help of one six.

It was England captain Eoin Morgan who won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat. Half-centuries form veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez (69) and captain Babar Azam (56) propelled Pakistan to score 195/4 in 20 overs. With bowling figures of 4-0-32-2, England spinner Adil Rashid was the pick of their bowlers.
