"Uska support hamesha raha hai": Kuldeep Yadav acknowledges Yuzi Chahal's support before 2nd IND vs SL ODI in Kolkata

The last leg of spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s post-match presentation ceremony during the recently concluded second ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Kolkata consisted of him literally distributing credits for his recent success to other people.

Yadav, who has demonstrated a significant improvement across departments in the recent months, started off by making trainers and physios at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) as people responsible for his success.

“In the last one year, I’ve worked a lot also on my fitness. All credit to the NCA trainers and physios. It has helped me get into a rhythm and be more aggressive,” Yadav told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony at the Eden Gardens today.

Yadav, who has won three Player of the Match awards in his last four matches for India across formats, seems to be a completely changed bowler. From run-up to rhythm, Yadav is required to put in more efforts especially while bowling longer spells. Reaping instant fruits of the changes made to his pre-routine before delivering a ball, neither Yadav nor anyone else would want to further tinker with his rhythm.

Yadav then moved towards teammate Yuzvendra Chahal to not see him lack behind with respect to receiving his due for constantly backing him. Playing this match in place of Chahal, expect both Chahal and Yadav to be rotated for each other as wrist-spinners in the near future as well.

Uska support hamesha raha hai [Yuzi has always supported me]. Obviously, he knew how the batters play having played the earlier matches. So, he keeps advising me.

Chahal and Yadav, who have played a total of 46 white-ball matches with each other in the Playing XI, were India’s preferred spin-duo at one point in time. With India making a U-turn with respect to playing at least one finger spinner in the Playing XI, one fixed opportunity has dried up for this pair.
