Not that the monsoon season has started in Delhi but the national capital is finding strange ways of welcoming Indian Premier League 2023 matches with rainfall. The fact these sudden occurrences of rain have been exclusively reserved for match days is disappointing, to say the least.

While IPL 2023 Match 28 between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans had begun after a one-hour delay due to unseasonal rain, the 40th match of the ongoing 16th season between DC and Sunrisers Hyderabad might also suffer a similar fate as there are chances of rain playing spoilsport at the Arun Jaitley Stadium tonight.
Assuming if it happens, it will result in both matches of a double-header day facing weather-related delays. Currently being played between Kolkata Knight Riders and GT in Kolkata, the contest had to be postponed by 45 minutes after rain made its presence felt right after the toss.
Weather in Arun Jaitley Stadium Today
Unlike the weather forecast in Kolkata, Delhi is expected to receive rainfall throughout the match hours as per weather portal AccuWeather. With the toss scheduled to happen at 07:00 PM (local time), there are 47% chances of rainfall pouring over the Arun Jaitley Stadium at that time.
Not the best of signs for a sporting event, rain prediction is anticipated to be around 50% till midnight. Hence, fans shouldn’t be surprised at the prospect of delays in consecutive matches on a Saturday in spite of varying geographical locations.
It is worth mentioning that it hasn’t rained a lot in Delhi NCR in the last 24 hours. Although the weather gods have been considerate till now, it is to note that a persistent cloud cover has been prevalent around the region since morning.
